David E. Casper III
Chief Executive Officer
David E. Casper III, a distinguished native of Union County, earned his undergraduate degree from Wingate University. Recognized for his exemplary leadership, David was honored as a Trail Blazer by Business North Carolina in 2020, and under his guidance, UDI received the Excellence in Business Award in the Nonprofit Innovations category from the Union County Chamber in 2021.
David's career is marked by his dedication to enhancing the capabilities of staff working with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges. He is a certified Lift and Transfer Trainer and a Red Cross Certified Instructor of First Aid/CPR/AED for all age groups. Additionally, he co-authored the "Minimally Intrusive Intervention Techniques," a North Carolina state-approved curriculum offering alternatives to restrictive interventions.
David resides in Union County with family where he enjoys hunting, boating, and golfing. Committed to community service, David is an active member of the Monroe Rotary Club, Emerging Leaders, MARC, NCARF, and the Coalition for Employment Choice. He holds positions on the Executive Board for Monroe Rotary and the Transportation Activity Board for Union County, and previously served on the Advisory Committee for the Union County Boys and Girls Club.
Beyond his professional endeavors in the IDD/MH/SU field, David is an internationally licensed and ordained minister through the National Freewill Baptist Association. He has served in various capacities within the Beaver Creek Association of South Carolina, including committee member, church planter, pastor, and evangelist. Currently, he continues his ministry work at a rural church in Monroe.
David desires to continue leading UDI with a focus on innovative solutions and compassionate care, ensuring that individuals with developmental disabilities and mental health challenges receive the highest quality of support and services.
