Monroe, NC- Wednesday, October 5, 2022.  David Casper, the Chief Executive Officer of Union Diversified Industries (UDI), and members of the Board of Directors (Sheila Crunkleton, DC Duplessis, Ellen Vilas, and Trent Turner) met with U.S. Representative Dan Bishop, Michelle Lancaster (Deputy County Manager of Union County), and Pat Kahle (President of the Union County Chamber of Commerce) at UDI’s facility on Walkup Ave.

Prior to touring UDI’s facility, Rep. Bishop and two of his local representatives learned more about the challenges facing organizations such as UDI.  Rep. Bishop shared his concern for and continued support of legislation to aid individuals with developmental disabilities.  He requested additional informational resources from UDI to ensure a well-informed position on topics that matter most to UDI, such as 14c certificates issued by the U.S. Department of Labor.

During the tour of UDI’s outsourcing support, manufacturing, and clinical service areas, Rep. Bishop commented on the technology, processes, and people at UDI.  His impression was similar to that of others, UDI’s employees are happy and seemed to love their job!  Upon finishing his tour, Rep. Bishop was presented with a piece of client created art from UDI’s Creative Arts Program.

When asked what a visit like this means, UDI’s CEO David Casper stated, “It means that our United States Representative in Washington, DC understands there is ability in every disability.  It means that we have another person committed to enhancing lives alongside of our great staff and board of directors.  I am truly appreciative of Rep. Bishop’s time and the overwhelming support we received from his office, Michelle Lancaster, and Pat Kahle.”
